MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman already jailed on attempted murder and arson charges after Miami-Dade police said she set her Tinder date on fire last November has now been charged with sexual battery.

Twenty-six-year-old Destiny Lenai Johnson is accused of sexually assaulting another inmate at the county’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center over the weekend, where she’s been incarcerated since Dec. 4, 2023, awaiting trial.

Johnson, then 25, was accused of setting a man she had met on Tinder on fire after meeting him outside the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kendall East, located at 11520 N. Kendall Drive, on Nov. 25, 2023. She’s also accused of setting the man’s car on fire.

Miami-Dade police said the sexual battery happened on Saturday.

An arrest report states that the victim was taking a shower just before 7:30 p.m. when Johnson entered her stall “and touched her breast and vagina.”

Police said Johnson then bent over and kissed the victim’s “pubic area,” at which point other inmates took notice and reported the attack to correctional officers, who separated and relocated the two inmates.

A judge found probable cause Monday to charge Johnson with one count of sexual battery.

As for the case that first landed Johnson in jail, she remains charged with attempted murder and arson. Miami-Dade court records show that prosecutors declined to pursue a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Those records show she has a trial hearing scheduled for Aug. 12 in that case.

Johnson remains held at TGK without bond as of Monday morning.
