New video shows bloody knife attack inside Miami Gardens gym

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Newly released video shows a gruesome attack at a South Florida gym that nearly killed a man and left another behind bars.

The attack happened at a 24-Hour Fitness in Miami Gardens back in May.

Surveillance video shows off-duty police officers trying to keep a wounded man alive outside the gym after being stabbed while working out.

According to police, 28-year-old Andrew Floyd Rodríguez is seen in the video walking into the gym without checking in and carrying a backpack.

Another angle shows him looking through his bag before confronting the victim.

Detectives say Rodriguez was armed with a knife that he used to stab the man multiple times.

Video shows the victim walking out of the gym leaving a trail of blood, followed by the suspected attacker who was covered in his victim’s blood.

Video from a nearby apartment complex also shows Rodriguez running away.

A police report obtained by Local 10 News stated before the gory fight, Rodriguez referred to the victim’s special needs child, telling him, “You are weak, just like your daughter.”

The report also said the two had previously argued over accusations of a possible affair.

The victim was fortunate that there were first responders working out in the gym at the time, and they helped render aid until paramedics arrived.

Rodriguez, who turned himself in, has since been charged with attempted murder and remains behind bars with no bond.
