Missing child alert canceled for South Miami 3-year-old

SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. – A missing child alert was canceled Tuesday for a 3-year-old girl from South Miami.

According to police, Shea Eminhizer’s mother Christine Betancourt, 41, turned her daughter over to authorities at the South Miami police station.

Prior to being located, Shea was reportedly last seen in the area of Southwest 78th Terrace, just west of South Dixie Highway. The child’s father, who has full custody of her, said he had not seen or heard from her since June 24.

The father told police he believed Betancourt left her home with their child.

According to police, Betancourt was ordered to undergo psychological testing.

“The worry is there is a psychological testing that the court has ruled needed to be done and the child is unaccounted for at this point in time,” South Miami police Chief Reo Hatfield said prior to the alert being canceled. “It’s not going to get any better. Come in here, bring the child back.”

Betancourt’s attorney, Sam Rabin, is holding a news conference Wednesday to discuss the matter, saying his client claims the father knew she was going on vacation with their daughter.
