According to the report, the officer, working an off-duty detail at the stadium, was turning right from Northwest 14th Court onto 199th Street just before 5 p.m. when Sobrian ran a red light and had to slam on his brakes to avoid hitting the officer.
Police said Sobrian made a hard right turn onto Northwest 14th Court and the officer made a U-turn and conducted a traffic stop.
The report states that when the officer asked Sobrian for his license, he told him he didnāt have it, so the officer asked him to step out of the van.
Sobrianās license had been suspended since 2018, police said.
Police said as the officer began to type traffic citations, Sobrian ārapidly walkedā to the van and took off with his children inside.
Authorities said officers turned their emergency lights off and began to follow him āat a safe distance.ā
The report states that Sobrian ran several stop signs and eventually drove the wrong way down Northwest 12th Avenue near 186th Street before stopping in front of a property in the 2000 block of Northwest 187th Terrace.
Police said Sobrian āexited his vehicle and ran into the backyard of this property to avoid being arrested by officersā and ājumped several fences of the neighboring housesā before officers caught up to him.
Authorities said he proceeded to resist arrest. He was eventually taken into custody on charges of fleeing and eluding, child neglect causing no great bodily harm and a misdemeanor resisting arrest charge.
Police also cited him for reckless driving and knowingly driving with a suspended license.
The arrest report states that the childrenās mother came to pick them up.
