DORAL, Fla. – A 3-year-old boy from Daytona Beach was sleeping on the floor of an apartment building alone in Doral while his 25-year-old mother was undergoing plastic surgery, police said.
Jessica Renteria appeared in Miami-Dade County court on Friday after residents of the APEX apartment complex along Northwest 104 Avenue near 82 Street reported seeing the toddler wandering around.

According to a police report, surveillance video shows Renteria left the third-floor apartment she had rented through Airbnb at 10:12 a.m., and her son walking out by himself at about 1:13 p.m.
A first-floor resident reported finding the toddler sleeping just outside her doorstep shortly before 4:15 p.m. A detective found Renteria at the hospital after she underwent cosmetic surgery.
Renteria told the detective she had asked a friend to watch him, but he told police that he had no idea the boy was alone. She was facing a charge of child neglect with no bodily harm. Her bond was $1,000.
