Police: Man repeatedly breaks into woman’s South Miami home before arrest

SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. – South Miami police on Thursday announced the arrest of a man who they said has been breaking into a woman’s home for the past two months.

According to police, Dean Post, 62, was taken into custody Wednesday on charges of occupied burglary, unoccupied burglary, theft and probation violation.

South Miami police Sgt. Fernando Bosch said Post burglarized the victim’s home in the 5900 block of Southwest 85th Street between April 15 and June 17.

He said in the latest burglary, surveillance video shows Post entering the victim’s home just after 5:30 p.m. on June 17.

The victim was home at the time and confronted Post, authorities said.

According to Bosch, during the investigation, detectives learned through surveillance video that Post was “using the floor of a shed he stole from the victim’s property to try and conceal himself.”

Detectives identified Post in the video from a prior arrest in November 2023 for voyeurism. Bosch said Post is currently on probation for a voyeurism case.

As of Thursday morning, Post remained held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his bond had yet to be set.
