FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A prominent South Florida RV dealership owner could spend up to 30 years behind bars after she was arrested Wednesday on a charge of theft of state funds. Authorities said she failed to pay nearly a half million dollars in state taxes.

Gigi Stetler, 62, of Southwest Ranches, owns Planet RV at 1820 NW 21st St. in Pompano Beach, according to state business records. She also runs a company called The RV Advisor.

Stetler, at Planet RV’s parent company, RV Sales of Broward, “collected and failed to pay a minimum of $471,447.35 in sales tax” to the Florida Department of Revenue from May 2019 to June 2023, an investigator with that agency wrote in a probable cause affidavit obtained Thursday by Local 10 News.

RV Sales of Broward is registered to 2051 Griffin Road in Dania Beach.

The affidavit states that state authorities made multiple attempts to “resolve the company’s sales tax delinquencies and secure” Stetler’s “voluntary compliance,” including speaking with her over the phone five times.

Investigators said Stetler declined to provide a statement.

Local 10 News has interviewed Stetler in the past, once in 2016 regarding a lawsuit she filed against a CNBC reality show personality and another time in 2021 regarding a fire at Planet RV’s former location in Davie.

As of Thursday morning, Stetler remained in the North Broward Bureau jail facility on a $10,000 bond, jail records show.

She did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
