LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – Police arrested two men on Saturday for multiple business burglaries throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties, the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a news release Tuesday morning.
Authorities identified the suspects as Zeffery Lundy, 44, of Pompano Beach, and Micah Jackson, 46, of Opa-locka. Deputies said the duo burglarized eight Dunkin’ stores and one Mobil gas station.
They said the businesses were closed when the thieves broke in and stole cash.
Detectives watched a white 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, identified as the getaway vehicle, travel to a closed Dunkin’ at 550 S. Federal Highway in Dania Beach, where it parked in a swale, the news release states.
Detectives saw the man wearing the same clothes from previous burglaries leave from the back of the Dunkin’ Donuts carrying a cash register, according to the press release. Surveillance footage shows him entering through the back door, grabbing the cash register, and walking out through the back door.
Detectives continued to watch the Equinox, seeing the man enter the passenger’s side of the car and watched it stop at a Chevron gas station, located at 3990 W. Oakland Park Blvd., according to the press release.
Detectives then performed a vehicle mobilization technique and took the two men into custody, it states.
Lundy faces multiple charges: one count of burglary of an unoccupied structure, one count of petit theft, one count of criminal mischief, one count of attempted conspiracy to commit a felony and four counts of possession of burglary tools with the intent to use. Lundy was also arrested on a warrant from Louisiana on burglary charges, the press release states.
Jackson, who was identified as the driver, faces three charges: one count of burglary of an unoccupied structure, one count of attempted conspiracy to commit a felony and one count of driving with a suspended license.
According to the press release, additional charges are expected.
According to online records, as of Tuesday, Lundy and Jackson were both being held in the Broward Main Jail, with Jackson on an $8,000 bond and Lundy without bond.
