Anthony Duclair hosts annual youth hockey camp in Coral Springs

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A group of young hockey players received a one-of-a-kind lesson from a guy who knows a thing or two about the sport.

NHL player Anthony Duclair, who played three seasons with the Florida Panthers, hosted the hockey camp for kids, ages 7 through 15, at the Ice Den in Coral Springs.

Many of those kids who took to the ice have the goal of someday reaching Duclair’s level.

“It’s amazing, I love this sport,” said 14-year-old Kia Bourgeois.

Nearly 70 campers took part in the second annual development program hosted by Duclair.

His foundation is what makes the opportunity available for the youngsters.

“I started this foundation two years ago,” Duclair said. “The mission was to bring my minorities and everyone together and give them an opportunity to play on the ice.”

The camp’s message is to foster confidence, inclusivity and goal-setting.

“Just going to take everything I learned when I was a kid and try to teach it down,” said Duclair.
