Man accused of throwing rocks at vehicles in Miami, striking driver in face

MIAMI – A 28-year-old man was arrested Monday after Miami police said he threw rocks at random vehicles.

According to his arrest report, a police officer arrived to the area of Southwest 52nd Court and West Flagler Street just after 6:15 p.m. in reference to an aggravated battery that had just occurred.

Police said the victim and a witness told the officer that Gadiel Luis Sabatela was grabbing rocks from the ground and throwing them at vehicles.

The victim said he was driving north on 52nd Court when Sabatela threw a rock through the driver’s side window, which was down, hitting the victim in the left side of the face, causing a small cut to his face and left hand.

According to the report, the incident caused the victim to crash his vehicle into a wall.

Sabatela was arrested and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

He faces a charge of shooting or throwing a deadly missile.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Sabatela, whose arrest report lists him as a Cuban citizen, remained held at TGK where his bond had yet to be set.
