Date set for Florida Panthers championship parade after Stanley Cup win

Parade to be held Sunday in Fort Lauderdale

SUNRISE, Fla. – A date has been officially confirmed for the Florida Panthers championship parade after the Cats defeated the Oilers Monday night to win the Stanley Cup in Game 7.

The Panthers say the parade will happen this Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. in Fort Lauderdale.

The Championship Celebration parade will travel along A1A, starting at Riomar Street and concluding just north of Fort Lauderdale Beach Park (across from Hotel Maren) at Southeast Fifth Street, where a formal rally will take place on stage.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, right? And we’re going to share in this, we’re going to make sure the community has an opportunity to be part of this,” Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis said. “And I think that being mayor of this wonderful city, it’s a proud moment for everybody, as well as myself, and seeing that the Stanley Cup has finally arrived at our front door.”

Tents began going up along the parade route on Tuesday, with risers and eventually a stage to be built this week.

Avery Peterson just happens to be the daughter of Panthers Assistant General Manager Brett Peterson. She was in the building with her grandmother on Monday night.

“I’m just excited to ride around in the float at the parade,” Peterson said.

For those looking to get their Panthers championship swag ahead of the parade, the official merchandise started making its way to stores across South Florida right after the final buzzer sounded.

Some stores opened early to let fans inside to grab their new gear.

As for the parade, more information on parking and additional details will be released in the coming days.

The Panthers urge fans to stay tuned to FloridaPanthers.com/PlayoffCentral and official Panthers social channels.
