MIAMI – Police are investigating a Monday morning crash that involved a Miami-Dade police officer.
The crash occurred around 6 a.m. in the area of Northwest Second Avenue and 71st Street.

Sky 10 was above the scene at 6:15 a.m. as the front of the police SUV was pressed up against a pole.
A silver car with heavy damage to its passenger side was up on a sidewalk nearby.
According to Miami-Dade police Detective Angel Rodriguez, who is also a spokesman for the police department, the officer was on duty at the time of the collision.
He said the civilian was transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital as a precaution. He said the officer was not injured.
The cause of the crash has not been released.
Rodriguez said the MDPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating.
