Deputies search for man they said opened fire on group of juveniles in West Park

WEST PARK, Fla. – Detectives in Broward County are searching for someone who opened fire on a group of juveniles.

The incident happened at approximately 10 p.m. on Friday, April 12 at Mary Saunders Park, located at 4750 S.W. 21st St. in West Park.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, a group of students who attend the same high school were at the park for a preplanned fight.

Surveillance video showed a blue sedan arriving to the scene and after it parks, a female exits the passenger side, police said.

It was shortly after that, authorities said, that the juveniles gathered and the fight began.

According to BSO, as the altercation was occurring, a man exited the blue sedan with a rifle and fired several rounds into the crowd of minors.

The gunman and the female both got back into the blue sedan and fled the scene immediately after the shooting, police said.

Warning: Surveillance video shows violence

A juvenile female was shot multiple times and a man was shot once, police said. Both were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries considered to be non-life-threatening.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
