Fire rescue: Boat fire injures 2 at Crandon Park Marina

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue dispatches nearly a dozen units to marina off Crandon Boulevard, near Key Biscayne

MIAMI – A boat fire injured two people on Sunday at the Crandon Park Marina, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and state law enforcement responded to the popular Miami-Dade County marina at 4000 Crandon Boulevard, near Key Biscayne and Virginia Key.

The public record of MDFR’s active calls showed nearly a dozen units responded to a “fire boat” shortly before 12:15 p.m. The call, which included an aircraft rescue unit, remained active until about 1:05 p.m.

According to MDFR, a burn victim was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers also responded to the marina’s ramp 4. The agency had yet to confirm the officers’ role.
