According to the suspect’s arrest report, officers arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
City of Miami Fire Rescue personnel transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he died.
According to the arrest report, surveillance video shows the victim getting off his bicycle at the corner of Oak Avenue and Douglas Road.
At the same time, a white Nissan SUV is seen coming to a stop in the southbound lane of Douglas Road.
Police said the suspect, Albert Sistrunk, of Miami, was then seen getting out of the driver’s seat and approaching the victim.
Sistrunk then pistol-whipped the victim between the head and shoulder before shooting him in the left shoulder in a downward trajectory, authorities said.
Police said he then re-entered the SUV and fled the scene.
According to the arrest report, license plate readers in the area helped detectives link Sistrunk to the killing.
Police said Sistrunk was located the next day and his shirt and shorts, which appeared to have blood stains on them, were collected as evidence.
Lab tests on the shirt later confirmed that the stains tested positive for blood, the report stated.
Sistrunk was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder.
