NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Broward Sheriff’s Office SWAT team executing a narcotics search warrant at a North Lauderdale home found six dogs malnourished and in poor health, leading to the arrests of a man and woman Thursday, an arrest report states.
Tjon Alexis Parks, 37, and Amanda Tinisha Ilar Rogers, 36, are facing several felony animal cruelty and drug charges.

According to the report, the SWAT team, along with the North Lauderdale Crime Suppression Team were at a house at 7943 SW Third St. when they made the discovery, finding the six dogs “extremely malnourished and (with) scabs and sores all over their bodies.”
That included Cookie, a 5-month-old puppy, who was “emaciated with bones protruding all throughout (her) body,” deputies said.
“Cookie had little to no fur left on her body from all the scabs and sores,” a detective wrote.
Deputies said an animal control officer had documented Cookie’s condition two months prior and she had declined even more since then.
The report states that a husky dog, Prada, had been in good condition when the animal control officer was on the property two months before, but was seen by detectives “curled up” and underweight, limping in pain.
A pit bull named King had a “large red swollen lump” on his leg and a bite to his face from another dog on the property, deputies said. A fourth dog, named Sire, had scabs all over his body.
Sire bit King in deputies’ presence, the report states, and the owners’ 16-year-old son had to separate the dogs.
Two other smaller dogs were locked in kennels without food and water on a day with a 94-degree heat index, deputies said. Detectives said they saw the dogs drinking stagnant water trapped at the bottom of their kennels.
“All dog bowls were empty or flipped over,” a detective wrote.
Rogers’ son told investigators that all six dogs were kept outside at all times, the report states. Detectives said the dogs had “minimal shelter from the elements” with no food or water available and said there was a “lack of feces” outside, “indicating a lack of nutrition.”
Detectives said they found a large bag of dry kibble in the home, which appeared to be unused.
“While (I) was on scene, Cookie entered the house and found an old piece of food in the kitchen and began eating the scraps,” a detective wrote in the report.
Both Parks and Rogers were being held in the BSO Main Jail as of Friday afternoon.
Rogers’ bond was set at $30,000, while Parks is being held without bond because his 10 counts include an armed methamphetamine trafficking charge, jail records show.
