Miami-Dade woman’s unlicensed Botox gig busted outside former Mall of the Americas, cops say

MDPD: Undercover sting prompted by victim complaint

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – An undercover sting in a west Miami-Dade mall parking lot led to the arrest of a woman who’s made a business out of providing unlicensed Botox injections and facials, according to police.

According to an arrest report obtained Thursday, detectives began looking into Lina Alexandra Gutierrez-Farfan, 48, after a client who received multiple injections told police that “one treatment left a lump on his forehead that lasted for approximately a month” and provided photographic evidence.

Miami-Dade police said Gutierrez-Farfan charged $150 to $200 per session. They said the man who reported her had been under the false impression that she was a licensed provider.

Detectives scheduled an appointment with Gutierrez-Farfan Tuesday and they agreed to meet at the Midway Crossings mall — once known as Mall of the Americas — at 7795 W. Flagler St. in the Fontainebleau area, the arrest report states.

The Colombian national agreed to perform Botox for $350, police said.

Authorities said when Gutierrez-Farfan arrived at the scheduled time — 3 p.m. — detectives saw her unloading a gray cooler bag from her Hyundai Tucson.

Police said they detained her and a search revealed “two vials containing suspect Botox,” as well as a box labeled with Replengen, a filler, and “lidocaine inside of a foam container inside of the cooler bag.”

“Additionally, a black box containing a syringe and bandages were located inside of the bag,” police wrote.

Gutierrez-Farfan, who lives near Homestead, is not licensed to perform any medical procedure in Florida, the report states.

Detectives arrested her on two felony charges: practicing health care without a license and possession of prescription drugs with intent to sell or deliver.

Court records show she was later released on a $5,000 bond.

Gutierrez-Farfan’s arrest comes about a month after Miami police said they arrested a 29-year-old woman in a similar sting. In that case, police said Angelina Andreoli was giving Botox and lip fillers without a license at a clinic on Coral Way.
