Caught on camera: Brick of cocaine washes up on Haulover Beach

BAL HARBOUR, Fla. – A viral video obtained by Local 10 News captured the moment authorities discovered a significant stash on Haulover Beach in Bal Harbour Wednesday afternoon.

Bal Harbour police said an officer discovered a whole kilo of cocaine worth thousands of dollars that washed up on the shore.

Local 10′s Rosh Lowe spoke exclusively with the videographer behind the footage.

“I started following the cop and I noticed he walks over to a lady and then they start pulling stuff out of the sand and it was like bags, and all of a sudden, I see a white block and I said, ‘oh my God, this is cocaine,”' said Miami Famous videographer Joseph Levy.

Levy said it wasn’t your average day on the beach in Bal Harbour.

“I can’t believe it. I mean, it’s like so new to me, it never happened over here,” he said. “I was shocked and it was a lot of cocaine. I was more in shock than in that’s why I didn’t say anything. I was trying to figure out I was trying to process this day though. A kilo of cocaine!”

“Some part of me said, oh, wow, I have an exclusive. This video has over a million views in just the first few hours,” Levy added.

Authorities said they are currently investigating how the cocaine washed up on the beach. They have not disclosed the exact value of the cocaine recovered.
