Police chase involving stolen car wanted for burglaries ends in northwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ Police took several people into custody following a brief chase that ended in Miami-Dade County.

Sky ten flew over a white Dodge Challenger with its doors open after the chase ended in a crash in Northwest Miami-Dade.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, they began following the stolen car in the area of Northwest 103 Street and Seventh Avenue after the car refused to pull over.

Later, troopers said they executed a pit maneuver on the car in order to get it to stop.

Afterwards, the trooperā€™s cruiser and the white car could be seen crashed into a fence.

Thatā€™s when two people were taken into custody.

According to an arrest report from FHP, one of the individuals involved in the chase was identified as 21-year-old Kenneth Cristofer Barahona, of Miami.

Police said the pursuit lasted approximately five minutes and ended at the intersection of Northwest 79th Terrace & Northwest 21st Avenue.

One of the people taken away by authorities claimed they were ā€œjust catching a ride.ā€

Officers said the vehicle was involved in several burglaries in Miami-Dade County.

A stolen gun was found inside the car, police said.

Barahonaā€™s arrest report states he is facing one count of aggravated fleeing/ attempting to elude police after an accident and causing injury or damage.

As of Tuesday, Barahona is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond has yet to be determined due to a previous warrant for his arrest after violating his probation, according to jail records.

Authorities have not released the identities of the other two individuals taken into custody or said what charges they will be facing.
