MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police arrested a southwest Miami-Dade man Friday in connection with a May road rage incident, according to an arrest report obtained by Local 10 News on Monday.

Miami-Dade police accuse 33-year-old Christopher Acevedo, who lives in the West Kendall area, of attacking a senior at a traffic light just after 1:30 p.m. on May 22.

According to the report, the incident happened at Red Road and Sunset Drive in an unincorporated portion of Miami-Dade bordering South Miami and Coral Gables.

It states that the 69-year-old victim told police that Acevedo, riding a scooter, approached his vehicle and began banging on the window while the victim was stopped at the red light.

Police said when the man lowered the window, Acevedo began “punching him in the face.”

The man opened his door in an attempt to defend himself and the attack continued, police said. The report states the victim suffered injuries to his face requiring medical treatment.

Police said Acevedo took off, but the man provided police with his license plate number, leading them to track Acevedo down.

The report states he turned himself in at the Miami-Dade Police Department Kendall District station Friday and was arrested on a felony charge of battery on a person 65 or older.

A Miami-Dade judge found probable cause to charge him and he later left jail on a $2,500 bond, records state.

Court records show Acevedo was previously arrested by Miami-Dade police on misdemeanor battery and resisting arrest charges in 2009; those records show prosecutors dismissed the case after he completed a pre-trial diversion program.
