Driver airlifted after colliding with semi-truck in Opa-locka

OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – A driver was airlifted to the hospital after colliding with a semi-truck in Opa-locka Monday afternoon, authorities confirmed.

Sky 10 flew over the scene around 4:40 p.m. where a semi-truck was parked in the middle of the street at the intersection of Northwest 127th Street and Northwest 27th Avenue.

A tan car with a busted windshield had heavy damage to its front side and appeared to have collided with the semi-truck.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said a victim involved in the crash was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center following the crash.

Police confirmed that Northwest 27th Avenue was temporarily shut down following the crash.

Authorities have not released any information on the victim’s age, gender or condition at this time.

No other details about the crash were immediately released.

Editor’s note: Police initially said they were responding to calls of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle, but later confirmed that it was a crash regarding a vehicle and semi-truck.
