POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit is investigating after they say a man was fatally struck by a Tri-Rail Thursday night in Pompano Beach.
According to BSO, deputies received a report of a crash involving a Tri-Rail train and a pedestrian in the area of Northwest 13th Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Pompano Beach just before 11 p.m.

BSO said deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene, where the man was pronounced dead.
Investigators said the man was walking from east to west when stepped on the tracks in front of the train.
Witnesses said as soon as the pedestrian got on the tracks he turned towards the oncoming train and was struck by it, according to authorities.
Deputies said the man’s body was transported to the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office for a post-mortem examination and no foul play is suspected at this time.
Authorities have not released any information on the man’s age or identity at this time.
