‘It’s like we’re living in a lake:’ Miami-Dade residents try to clean up after days of severe flooding

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Residents at one apartment complex in northeast Miami-Dade were trying to clean up their homes Friday following days of severe flooding.

Local 10 News reporter Janine Stanwood visited the Aspen Lakes apartment complex, located in the 18000 block of Northeast Third Court, as water was still seeping into first-floor apartment units through the front and rear of the units.

“The lake and our back patio – it’s one – there is no lake. It’s like we’re living in a lake,” one woman said.

Standing outside the building, it was unclear where the lake ended.

“The bedroom was full of water,” one woman said. “Also the closet was filled with the water, so I put the clothing on the bed.”

Some residents said they stayed at hotels or with relatives this week, but came back Friday to begin cleaning up.
