SWAT, police officers respond to Naranja home regarding barricaded person

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Homestead police are investigating after they said a person barricaded themselves inside a home in the unincorporated Naranja area Thursday afternoon.

According to police, multiple units responded to an apartment complex near the intersection of Southwest 264th Street and 139th Court, regarding a barricaded subject.

Authorities urged the public to avoid the area as their investigation continues. Homestead police said Miami-Dade police were assisting them with its SWAT team and additional resources.

Sky 10 flew over the scene just after 2:30 p.m. where several SWAT members and Homestead police officers were surveilling the area and standing on the corner of a nearby street.

Police didn’t release additional details.
