Miami-Dade police serve several warrants in raid; several in custody following 2021 mass shooting

OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – Miami-Dade police performed a raid Thursday morning in connection with the 2021 El Mula Banquet Hall mass shooting, taking four people into custody.

Detectives reported a group of shooters fired at a crowd who was waiting to get into a Memorial Day weekend rap party at about 12:30 a.m., on May 30, 2021, at the venue, located at 7630 NW 186th St. in northwest Miami-Dade.

Twenty people were shot and three were killed: 32-year-old Shaniqua Peterson, 26-year-old Desmond Owens and 26-year-old Clayton Dillard III.

Many others were sent to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Two people were arrested prior to Thursday morning, one of whom, Davonte Barnes, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

Authorities served several warrants Thursday; one of them was in an Opa-locka neighborhood. A SWAT team was on the scene, along with crime scene units and many detectives.

According to a law enforcement source, Miami-Dade police took three men into custody: Allen Gregory Chambers, 30, Jacarree Brian Green, 23, and Eugene Anthony Holmes, 22.

They are known by the street names “Young Savage,” “OG Drop” and “Sco,” respectively.

A fourth man was in federal custody. Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle later identified him as 27-year-old Willie Hill.

Fernandez Rundle called it a very complex and complicated investigation and said the arrests were weeks in the making.

All of the suspects are facing counts of first-degree murder and attempted murder. Investigators say the shooting was gang-related.

“Three individuals stepped out of a white Nissan Pathfinder and started shooting into the crowd,” Fernandez Rundle said.

In total, 99 spent shell casings were found at the scene.

According to the arrest affidavit, Barnes confessed to investigators his involvement and the involvement of others in the shooting.

The four suspects arrested Thursday are facing the death penalty if convicted.
