According to the suspect’s arrest report, a security guard at the hotel spotted Enrique Amores De Los Reyes walking into the hotel as if he needed to use the restroom, but he then stayed on the property for an extended period of time.
Police said the security guard approached De Los Reyes and asked him what his intentions were.
According to the report, De Los Reyes was wearing a silver police badge clipped to his polo shirt, and carrying a black handgun in a holster on his waistband.
He told the security guard he was looking for two hotel rooms where a girl he was looking for might be staying at as she “is a murderer and I am here to collect,” the arrest report stated.
According to the report, both rooms he inquired about were vacant at the time.
When officers arrived at the scene, the security guard pointed De Los Reyes out to them as he was still in the rear of the property.
Police said De Los Reyes tried to conceal the fake police badge when he spotted officers approaching him.
The officers asked De Los Reyes why he was carrying on gun on his waistband to which he stated, “I want to be like you,” according to the report.
The arrest report states that the gun was discovered to be an air soft pistol with a loaded magazine but no ammunition.
Police said one of the officers asked De Los Reyes if he was a law enforcement officer, and De Los Reyes repeated, “I want to be like you – a police officer.”
According to the report, De Los Reyes could not produce any law enforcement identification and was also found with silver handcuffs on the right side of his waistband area.
He was arrested on one count of impersonating an officer.
According to the report, police found the silver badge in his pants pocket, which beared the words “integrity,” “justice,” “honor” and “police officer.”
Police said a records check revealed that De Los Reyes had previously been arrested in Miami Beach for impersonating a police officer.
