MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A suspect was taken into custody Tuesday morning following a shooting on Florida’s Turnpike in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities confirmed.
According to Miami-Dade police Detective Angel Rodriguez, the shooting was reported at 11:53 p.m. Monday in the northbound lanes of the highway near Southwest 257th Terrace.

Rodriguez said officers arrived at the scene and found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, and a female, who was not injured, inside the vehicle.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported the victim to Jackson South Medical Center in critical condition.
“The preliminary information revealed a known subject drove alongside the victim’s vehicle, shot into it, and fled the scene. The adult male was the only one struck,” Rodriguez said in an email to Local 10 News.
Police later confirmed that the suspect had been located at the Villa Capri Apartments, located in the 14400 block of Southwest 284th Street in Homestead.
The suspect’s identity has not yet been released, nor has a motive for the shooting.
