MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – More details were released Friday after a motorcyclist was arrested earlier this week for allegedly leading Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a chase in Miami-Dade County.

According to an arrest report, a trooper spotted two motorcycles -- one with a male rider and one with a female rider -- traveling north at a high rate of speed just before 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Northwest Second Avenue and 191st Street.

Authorities said three law enforcement vehicles began following the motorcycles, but they sped up in an effort to evade them.

According to the report, a trooper placed their patrol vehicle with their lights activated in front of both motorcycles at the intersection of Northwest 199th Street and Second Avenue, but the motorcycles continued to flee, heading east on 199th Street.

A chase then ensued, with the two motorcycles hopping onto the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 from Ives Dairy Road, authorities said.

According to the report, the motorcycles were speeding at up to 110 mph during the chase, “traveling all over the road without regard for public safety.”

Authorities said the man and woman separated as they approached the Golden Glades Interchange, with the woman continuing to flee south on I-95.

Troopers said they continued following the female motorcyclist, who then exited at Northwest 103rd Street, ran a red light and drove against traffic at one point before “intentionally” crashing into the side of a marked FHP SUV in the area of Northwest Seventh Avenue and 160th Street.

Authorities said the motorcyclist, identified as Daniela Montoya, 30, fell off her motorcycle after striking the SUV.

She was transported to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Montoya faces charges of fleeing and eluding at high speed and two counts of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.

As of Friday afternoon, she remained held on a $7,500 bond.
