Police: Man fatally shot in Opa-locka; reward offered for information

OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – Opa-locka police are searching for the shooter who killed a man early Monday morning.

According to police, the shooting was reported around 12:50 a.m. at the Mary Alice Brown apartment complex in the 2800 block of Northwest 132nd Street.

Police said officers arrived at the scene and found a man who had been shot.

He was later identified as Keon Bernard Smith.

According to police, Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Homicide Bureau has taken over the investigation into the killing.

No other details were immediately released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
