Man charged months after Lauderdale Lakes homicide

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – A suspect is now facing a murder charge following the Oct. 2023 killing of a 23-year-old man in Lauderdale Lakes, the Broward Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

According to BSO, the shooting was reported shortly after 7 p.m. on Oct. 23 near the 4300 block of North State Road 7.

First responders arrived at the scene and found the victim, Cedarien C. Camper, of Lauderdale Lakes, with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to detectives, two people arrived in the area and began shooting at Camper before fleeing the scene.

BSO deputies have since identified one of the suspects as Davontay Mosley, 24, of Fort Lauderdale.

Authorities said BSO deputies arrested Mosley in December on unrelated charges, but recently connected him to the October shooting.

Mosley now faces an additional charge of first-degree murder with a firearm.

As of Friday, he remained held at the Broward County Main Jail without bond.
