SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. – After 45 years serving customers, Romeu’s Cuban Restaurant has closed its doors in Southwest Ranches.
A letter from the owners was posted on the front door of the business on Thursday, saying the restaurant had to close because of the rising cost of doing business.

Romeu’s was well known by customers in the area for its Sunday breakfast buffet. It was also one of the few restaurants in West Broward to get a Cuban coffee from a “ventanita” for many years before the area developed.
According to the restaurant’s website, Heriberto and Nury Romeu have served the South Florida community Cuban dishes since 1978. The family opened locations in Miami Lakes and Hialeah before settling in Southwest Ranches.
