MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A 34-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police said he exposed himself to a girl at a Miami-Dade County library Wednesday, then opened fire after the victim’s mother and another relative confronted him.

Authorities said Keith Xavier Robertson first exposed himself to the girl at around 6 p.m. at the North Dade Regional Library, located at 2455 NW 183rd St. in Miami Gardens.

An arrest report from the Miami Gardens Police Department states that the victim, who is under 16, called her mother and told her that a man was “exposing his penis to her.”

She told police “that the suspect was making noises at the table trying to get her attention,” the report states.

“She stated that the suspect was making sexual faces, (biting) his lips and looking at her at the same time,” police wrote. “The victim stated that at some point he pulled out his penis and was touching himself.”

Police said the girl’s mother “told her daughter to look for a security guard or an adult,” then went to the library herself, along with her stepson.

Authorities said before getting to the library, she and her stepson saw Robertson walking east near Northwest 24th Avenue and confronted him.

“So you are pulling your d--- out in front of my daughter,” police said she told Robertson, who denied doing so, but admitted he came from the library.

Police said the woman’s stepson got out of the car and he and Robertson began fighting.

The report states that during the altercation, Robertson pulled a gun and shot at the woman’s stepson “several times.”

Both the woman and her stepson then got in their car and went to the library, police said.

The report states that MGPD officers located Robertson walking along the road and gave him several commands at gunpoint, but he continued walking. Police said he resisted arrest as officers tried to take him into custody.

Police said a later review of CCTV footage showed Robertson “sitting in a position where it was hard to see what he was doing with his hands.”

“At one point I was able to see that he had both hands toward his penis and was making weird movements that were consistent with the statements given by the victim,” the officer wrote.

Authorities arrested Robertson on charges of lewd and lascivious exhibition on a child under 16, aggravated assault with a firearm and resisting an officer without violence.

Jail records show Robertson, who is homeless, was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $13,000 bond as of Thursday afternoon.
