MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A northeast Miami-Dade man is accused of wielding a “glass snow globe” Tuesday morning and striking his 70-year-old landlady multiple times, then forcing her to beg him for forgiveness.
Rodolfo Guillermo Garrido, 62, who police said rents a room from the victim, is now facing five felony charges.

According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Police Department, the incident happened at around 8 a.m. at a home, shared by Garrido and the woman, in the 1200 block of Northeast 191st Street in the county’s unincorporated Ojus area.
Police said the woman went into Garrido’s room with his consent to discuss a maintenance issue. They said he then “closed and locked the bedroom door and armed himself with a glass snow globe.”
“Additionally, (Garrido) stated that he has (redacted), he is not afraid to die and he will kill her,” the MDPD arrest report states. “The victim attempted to leave the bedroom and (Garrido) would not allow her to leave. The victim stated that when she would try to walk towards the bedroom door, (he) would push her, with his hand, on her chest.”
The woman told police that Garrido struck her three times, investigators wrote.
“While in the bedroom, the victim advised that (Garrido) demanded that she get on her knees and apologize for how cruel (she) had been to him,” police wrote in the report. “The victim refused and stated that (Garrido) raised the snow globe as if he was preparing to strike her with it. (She) stated that she was scared of what (he) was going to do and followed his demands.”
Police said Garrido also demanded that the woman write, in his notebook, “I’m not better than you. I will not kick you out of my house because you are a good guy.”
The report states that Garrido allowed her to leave once she wrote what he demanded.
Police said they recovered the snow globe and letter and said Garrido denied the allegations.
The Uruguayan national was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on three counts of battery on a person 65 or older, false imprisonment, and threats or extortion.
Garrido remained at TGK on a $10,000 bond as of Wednesday, according to jail records. Those records show he was already out on felony bond on a charge of possessing a stolen or fictitious driver’s license.
