MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miss Peaches is a rescue dog now living the high life as one of the most famous dogs on the internet.
It was love at first sight for her owner, Dave Portnoy, the founder and owner of Barstool Sports.
By sharing his joy and love for Miss Peaches, Portnoy is also helping abandoned animals everywhere.
“If we are walking down the street, people are rolling down their windows yelling at her,” said Portnoy.
Pitbull Peaches went from a shelter to a posh Miami pad, complete with seven of her own beds.
But Peaches beginnings were rough as she was a victim of neglect.
“They used her as a breeding dog, she was in a hoarding situation,” said Portnoy.
Peaches was one of the approximately 3.1 million dogs that enter shelters annually.
Now Peaches and her media mogul papa are advocating for adoptions, raising close to $1 million in a matter of months, with some of those proceeds going back to shelters right here in South Florida.
Every penny Peaches raises goes back to the Adopt Don’t Shop movement.
“People are showing up saying can I get a Miss Peaches,” Portnoy said.
The pair are inspiring others to adopt their own pitbull.
Even Miami Mayor Francis Suarez presented her with the very first bone to the city.
While Miss Peaches is an advocate for all shelter dogs, she is learning to live a life of luxury and just be a happy pup.
