FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Several Broward County residents are reporting issues with their vote-by-mail application.
So what happens when you request a vote-by-mail ballot online and you are unable to proceed?
That’s exactly what happened to a few residents Local 10 News spoke with.
While the supervisor of elections said there were no issues with their website, residents still have other options.
Some had to call Broward’s Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott.
Local 10 News’ Roy Ramos reached out to Scott, who said their webmaster and IT department found no reports of glitches or outages on their end.
“What I think may have happened is that this person didn’t use the proper identifier, or doesn’t have an identifier on file with us,” he said. “That’s the thing that we see as being the thing that hangs up most people from being able to complete the process online.”
Scott took to social media to let residents know what options they are left with if they are unable to access the vote-by-mail application or register online.
“There some changes that have happened in law, and one of those requires an identifier, and it has to be an identifier that we already have on file for you,” he said. “It’s either going to be your driver’s license, your state ID number or the last four digits of your social.”
Scott also said it is important to make sure you are registered to vote because several things have changed and you may need to re-verify your personal information.
