BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – New details have been released after police say a driver fled from Miccosukee police Wednesday morning and then bailed out of the vehicle in Broward County.
The driver, who Miccosukee police identified as 20-year-old Gabriel Martinez, fled from an officer during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 and then crashed on U.S. 27 near Griffin Road, authorities said.

After police ran the tag, they discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of the city of Miami, authorities said.
An arrest report obtained by Local 10 News Friday states that Martinez was traveling at a “high rate of speed,” which led police to attempt a traffic stop.
Authorities said after flashing their police lights at Martinez, he slammed on the breaks in an attempt to run the responding officer off the road.
Shortly after, police said Martinez accelerated while in the vehicle “in an attempt to flee and elude.”
Police said after conducting a “K9 search,” Martinez was apprehended after crashing the vehicle in a nearby wooded area and was taken to Cleveland Clinic in Weston for a check-up, and from there, was transported to jail.
After searching the stolen vehicle, police said they found “burglary tools” inside the car.
Authorities confirmed the passenger inside Martinez’s vehicle was released at the scene.
Martinez’s arrest report states that he was currently on probation for fleeing and eluding law enforcement in a separate incident.
Martinez faces multiple charges, including grand theft auto, possession of burglary tools, driving with a suspended license, fleeing and eluding police and aggravated assault on an officer, firefighter or EMT.
As of Thursday morning, he remained held at the Broward County Main Jail.
