Search for shooter continues after teen killed, another injured in Lauderdale Lakes

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – Authorities are searching for a shooter after two teenagers were ambushed in Lauderdale Lakes, leaving one of them dead.

Neighbors described the chaotic and horrifying scene that occurred Monday night after two teens were shot.

A 16-year-old would not survive and a 15-year-old was shot in the arm.

One resident saw it all go down along the 4000 block of Northwest 30th Terrace.

He said the shooter “was already there when the other two walked up.”

“The only thing I noticed, because it was kind of dark, I noticed he was wearing a white T-shirt,” the resident said. “I saw immediately the kid with the one hand pulling the trigger on the gun, shooting the two kids and it all happened in the span of five seconds. It happened so fast. The one that got shot, he went down immediately. He got shot in the face, he went down immediately. The shooter stood on top of him and kept on shooting after he fell.”

Another neighbor said he tried to help the wounded 16-year-old, saying he was shot three times.

“I tried to just assist, how I knew how to do, keep him on his side until help arrived,” he said.

The teen was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center where he later died.

The neighbor said he heard the teen say he loved his mom before he was taken to the hospital.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
