According to the suspect’s arrest report, surveillance video shows the victim, 18-year-old Jacob Alexander Zamora, skateboarding across the roadway when it appears he either grabbed the rear of the suspect’s vehicle or tapped it as he passed by.

Police said Zamora then crossed in front of the car and the driver, identified as Rashad Bernard White, 34, of Miami Gardens, swerved his car toward the victim.

According to the report, Zamora is then seen on video backing away from White with his skateboard held in front of him as a shield when White shoots him in the torso.

The victim then collapsed to the ground.

Police said he was airlifted to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where he died a short time later.

According to the arrest report, another driver who was stopped in traffic near the suspect’s vehicle called 911 and provided police with the car’s license plate number.

The report stated that police pulled over the suspect’s vehicle that same day but another man was driving the car, and claimed that White had asked him to drive the car to his home as White rode the man’s bicycle.

Police said a gun was recovered from the car.

According to the report, White and his attorney responded to the police station on July 12, at which time White’s shoes were confiscated as evidence.

He was released as detectives continued their investigation.

According to the report, detectives later discovered that White’s cellphone had pinged at the location of the shooting when it occurred.

Police said the witness who was driving White’s car when it was pulled over was interviewed again by detectives on April 13 and he identified White as the shooter seen in the surveillance video.

White was taken into custody Thursday and refused to answer questions, authorities said.

He faces charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm while committing a felony.

As of Friday, White was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
