Ex-Pembroke Park police chief defends time on the job, says she remains qualified

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – The town of Pembroke Park’s ousted top cop defended herself on Thursday after she was voted out by commissioners.

Last month, the town terminated Chief Rashana Dabney-Donovan amid concerns about internal investigations and lawsuits against the department.

Those concerns included allegations that an officer forced someone to delete a video of an arrest.

“I have never neglected the police department,” she said. “I have never mismanaged the police department, I have never engaged in misconduct. This is all pretext by the town to cover up discrimination, harassment, defamation and retaliation, which I have been subjected to.”

The former chief called the allegations completely false.

She added that she remains qualified for the position.
