Perricone’s Marketplace & Cafe will close its doors on Thursday

MIAMI – A South Florida favorite will close its doors on Thursday after nearly three decades.

The owner of Perricone’s Marketplace & Cafe, Steven Perricone announced the closure in a post on social media in early May.

" It’s the people and the guest. That’s the best part the people. You name it and we did it. We were a big part of people’s great memories,” said Perricone.

According to the restaurant’s website, Perricone’s first opened its doors in on October 16, 1996, in the heart of Miami’s Brickell neighborhood. Perricone sold the property to a hotel developer in 2018. In July 2020, Perricone’s Marketplace and Café re-opened in a new modern space in the Roads neighborhood of Miami, less than a mile west of its former location.

With his 70th birthday just months away, and two daughters in college Perricone decided to retire.

“More time with family. More time it’s very important. To be able to be spontaneous and go on a trip,” said Perricone.

Perricone said after 27 years serving Miami, the restaurant will close on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
