MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Three suspects were arrested early Tuesday morning after two Miami-Dade police detectives who were driving past them were shot at, authorities said.

A third man, Alvin Terrance Bailey, 22, faces charges of organized fraud, grand theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to their arrest reports, the trio were riding in a vehicle Monday night when an unmarked red Jeep Compass with the two detectives inside spotted them as they were working a robbery interventions detail patrol in the area.

Police said the detectives noticed that the suspects’ burgundy Acura sedan had illegal window tints and followed it.

According to the arrest reports, David, who was driving the Acura, abruptly stopped the vehicle in front of his home in the 1400 block of Northwest 96th Street and got out of the car.

Police said one of the passengers, later identified as Richardson, also got out of the car.

According to the reports, the detectives slowly drove past the suspects with the front two windows rolled down. Police said the suspects had a clear view of the detective sitting in the front passenger seat, who was wearing a tactical vest with “police” written across the chest plate.

Police said David told the detectives, “What’s up? What’s up?” in an “aggressive” and “threatening” manner before he and Richardson began shooting at the detectives’ vehicle.

The vehicle was shot at least five times, but the detectives weren’t injured, the reports stated.

Police said the detectives took a “defensive position” and established a perimeter around the home.

According to the reports, the suspects eventually were escorted out of the home by the homeowners and they were all taken into custody.

Police said Bailey told detectives that he rode with the suspects to a neighborhood gas station and only heard the sound of gunshots once they got to the home, but did not witness the shooting.

According to the reports, David told detectives that he noticed he was being followed by a red vehicle from the gas station and said he abruptly parked his car when unknown people began shooting.

As of Tuesday, David and Richardson remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where their bonds had yet to be set.

Bailey was also being held at TGK in lieu of a $5,500 bond.
