US Marshals arrest ‘attempted murder fugitive’ who they say opened fire on man in Pinecrest

PINECREST, Fla. – US Marshals arrested an “attempted murder fugitive” Tuesday who they say opened fire on another man in a quiet Pinecrest neighborhood last month.

Authorities said Jeffrey Manuel Chamorro, 31, was apprehended by members of the US Marshals Service and the Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force near the 800 Block of Himmarshee Street in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday.

The initial incident occurred around 3 p.m. April 17, when police said Chamorro lured the victim to a residential area in the 8200 block of Southwest 128th Street and fired at him in an “attempt to take his life.”

According to police, Chamorro, upset that his girlfriend had met a man, set that man up.

Authorities confirmed the victim escaped unharmed.

Chamorro’s gunshots left multiple bullet holes in the victim’s car, but none of them hit the man he targeted, police said.

Jail records show Chamorro is facing one count of attempted murder.
