Sunrise store owners say same suspect has snatched vapes, cash several times

SUNRISE, Fla. – Video shows a bold bandit breaking into a Sunrise convenience store and emptying out the cash register.

The owner of Fame Store, located at 8260 NW 27th Place, believes it’s the same crook behind a recent string of smash and grabs.

The business owners tell Local 10 News they are frustrated—financially they don’t know how much more they can take—and they want this crook caught before their store is hit again.

In the video, with bolt cutters in hand, the hooded hoodlum looks over his shoulder before cutting right through a chain-locked front gate — and he doesn’t stop there.

He kicked in a sliding glass door as he made his way inside, then took off with hundreds of dollars in vape pens and tobacco products.

“But damage, property damage is more because you see the window, and he tried to break into this on, and he tried to break the shutter and, look, they took the camera too,” Anisur Monir, said.

Anisur Monir and his wife Nilufar Yiasmin said they have owned the business for more than 11 years and, in that time, only had one burglary — until recently.

Since February, they believe they have fallen victim to the same crook on multiple occasions.

“This is the third time,” Yiasmin said.

Earlier this year, before they had their surveillance system, the business was hit hard.

“First time they took a lot of money,” Monir said.

He said they stole $6,000 in products and $8,000 in cash and said just trying to keep the store up and running hasn’t been easy.

“Financially, mentally we are very upset,” Monir said.

While the burglaries have been reported to Sunrise police, the proprietors of this small, family-owned business are hopeful that the criminal, who is proving to be a major inconvenience to their store, is caught before he strikes again.

“I need a big punishment for that guy because we are a small business,” Monir said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
