MIAMI – Trouble was brewing inside a Miami Starbucks Thursday morning.
Cell phone video shows coffee cups flying, then, the irate customer runs behind the counter threatening to fight.
Another employee de-escalates the situation by restraining the woman.
It all started with a disagreement after the woman ordered in the drive-thru at the Starbucks at 6320 Biscayne Blvd. in the MiMo District.
Right before the video begins, the customer throws her hot drink on the Starbucks employee.
Miami police were inside moments later.
The woman, who hasn’t been publicly identified, eventually left and store employees locked its doors to clean up the mess.
A Starbucks spokesperson said in a statement that the company is aware of the incident:
"Starbucks takes pride in creating a warm and welcoming Third Place environment – it’s core to who we are as a company. We expect all of our customers and partners to treat each other with dignity and respect.
We also feel strongly that every partner deserves a safe and welcoming work environment. We care deeply about the experience every partner has while wearing the green apron and do not condone violence of any kind in our stores.
Any additional questions can be directed to local law enforcement.”
