LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A man shot outside his Lauderhill apartment just after midnight Friday originally didn’t want to prosecute his ex-girlfriend for pulling the trigger — until he got a series of threatening text messages from her later that afternoon, according to Broward court documents made public on Wednesday.
The accused gunwoman, Sabrina Shawnice Copeland, 31, of Boca Raton, also burglarized his apartment and took a photo of his current girlfriend sleeping, police said.

Copeland, who turned herself in to authorities on Monday, is now facing charges of attempted murder and burglary.
According to an arrest warrant from the Lauderhill Police Department, police responded to a building at the Environ apartment complex, off Environ Boulevard, after receiving reports about the shooting.
Police said they saw the victim near the front lobby door bleeding from his upper left arm. Authorities said he refused to answer questions and signed a waiver of prosecution after being taken to Broward Health Medical Center.
However, police said he changed his tune after Copeland texted him just after 3:30 that afternoon.
Copeland texted him the photo of the man’s girlfriend sleeping inside of his apartment along with the message, “sick a-- n---- play with your hoe you was laying with not me f--- n----,” the warrant states.
“I’ll smoke you bro frfr, stop texting me you dead to me,” police said she also texted. “Frfr” stands for “for real for real.”
Police said the victim, from his hospital bed, proceeded to tell detectives what happened early that morning.
He said that Copeland had texted him asking him to come outside, the warrant states; she was in the hallway with a bottle of alcohol.
The two had broken up three weeks prior and Copeland was “trying to get back together with him,” police said.
Upset that he had picked another woman over her, the two argued and Copeland swung the alcohol bottle at him, the warrant states.
Authorities said after he took it away from her, Copeland walked towards her vehicle as the victim walked towards the front of the complex.
Police said Copeland followed him, rolled down her window and fired one shot at him; he fell to the ground, then ran away after being hit near the shoulder.
They said Copeland then went into his apartment without permission through an unlocked door, took a picture of the victim’s new girlfriend sleeping, then stole about $2,300.
A detective wrote in the warrant that Copeland claimed over the phone that the victim “tried going for her gun” during the fight and told the detective that she “did what she had to do.”
Court records show that Copeland was released from jail after posting a $57,500 bond.
