MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – A winning Powerball ticket was sold at a Publix in South Florida, Lottery officials confirmed Tuesday.
The big winner matched all five numbers —7, 23, 24, 56 and 60 — along with the Powerball, 25, to win the $214 million grand prize for Monday’s drawing, according to the Powerball website.
Lottery officials confirmed winning ticket was sold at a Publix, located at 9050 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami Shores.
The winner has not officially claimed their prize and Lottery players are encouraged to check their tickets.
The winner will need to claim their prize by Nov. 6, according to the Florida Lottery.
Lottery officials confirmed this jackpot series contributed $13.5 million to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
Publix shopper Rodney Jeanty, who had a handful of Fantasy Five tickets while exiting the winning store, contemplated what he would do if he won the Powerball.
“Nobody would know it was me,” he said. “My family wouldn’t know. Nobody would know.”
“The lucky POWERBALL jackpot winner, whose identity remains a mystery, has the option of receiving their winnings in 30 annual installments or as a one-time, lump-sum cash option of approximately $100.1 million. The retailer will receive a $100,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket,” the Florida Lottery stated in a news release.
The next drawing will take place on Wednesday evening with an estimated $20 million jackpot.
Lottery officials also confirmed the retailer will receive $100,000 for selling the winning ticket.
