Miami-Dade police said they responded to the Jackson North Medical Center just after 11:30 p.m. April 26 after receiving reports of a shooting near the 100 block of Northwest 170th Street.

Upon arrival, responding officers said they found the victim who sustained a gunshot wound to his right shoulder.

The victim told police that he got into an argument with Jackson while he was unloading belongings from a vehicle, which further escalated into a fight, the warrant stated.

Authorities said during the confrontation, Jackson pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the right shoulder.

As the wounded victim attempted to leave the scene, police said Jackson asked him, “Where are you going, n----?” and “Are you going to tell on me?” while restraining him.

Needing immediate medical attention, police said the victim asked his friend and girlfriend, who both witnessed the incident, to drive him to the hospital.

Shortly after, police said Jackson followed them in a pickup truck and then departed in an unknown direction.

Authorities confirmed that both the incident site and hospital had surveillance video of Jackson following the victims after the altercation.

Police also said Jackson made “numerous and excessive” phone calls to the witnesses as he followed them.

Further investigation revealed that Jackson was driving a rental vehicle, which police say was paid for by his mother.

Authorities said on April 27, the victim positively identified Jackson in a photograph as the shooter.

Police said just before 12:30 p.m., Jackson was seen driving around in the pickup truck in Vero Beach and was taken into custody.

As of Monday, he was being held without bond at the Metro West Detention Center.

Police did not say what specifically led up to the confrontation and a motive for the shooting remains unknown at this time.
