HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Broward Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot a transgender man last month at The Village at Gulfstream Park, killing him.

According to authorities, officers responded to the 800 block of Silks Run, near Strike 10 Bowling, after receiving reports about a shooting around 1:30 a.m. April 3.

Hallandale Beach police said Latoya Arnold, 36, was transported to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Hallandale Beach police Capt. Aaron Smith told Local 10 News reporter Rosh Lowe last month that he believes the shooting was an “isolated incident” and was not a hate crime.

“We don’t believe this was a hate crime,” Smith said. “When we have incidents like this, we do our very best and we do everything to keep our community safe.”

Police said they are searching for a female suspect, and said the suspect and victim are known to each other.

A motive for the shooting, however, remains unclear.

Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
