Miami police say 12 now arrested in attack on 2 SLAM! Miami students

MIAMI – Miami police said Thursday that a dozen people have now been arrested in connection with a savage beating at the SLAM! Miami charter school in mid-April.

A group of teenagers, one of who used an object to cover his knuckles, targeted two students of the school at 542 NW 12th Ave., on April 18 in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

Most of those arrested are minors whom police haven’t identified, but one adult suspect, 18-year-old Diego Jones, has been.

Jones was charged with felony battery and aggravated battery.

According to arrest documents one of the victims told investigators that he “observed a large group of vehicles pulling up alongside the road. Shortly thereafter, a group of males exit from the vehicles and began approaching them.”

According to those documents, the victims suffered bruises and cuts. One of the victims had a concussion.

Both have since been released from the hospital.
