MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A southwest Miami-Dade man could be spending a long time behind bars after police say he attacked his girlfriend with a knife following a money dispute last weekend.

The victim recounted that while she was in bed, her boyfriend, who Miami-Dade police identified as 31-year-old Charles Davis, entered the bedroom demanding $3,000, which led to an argument just after 1 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

Davis, while in a fit of rage, pulled the victim from the bed to the floor and proceeded to repeatedly strike her on the back of the head, his arrest report stated.

Police said Davis further escalated the violence by arming himself with a kitchen knife and inflicted a minor puncture wound on the left side of the victim’s abdomen.

Authorities said he then placed her in a headlock while pressing the blade against her neck and demanded the money. The victim managed to escape the residence and call the police, the report stated.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement, Davis “violently” resisted arrest, which necessitated the use of a Taser by responding officers, authorities said.

Davis’ identity was confirmed by the victim through a single photograph, detectives said.

Detectives attempted to later interview Davis, who was being treated at Homestead Baptist Hospital following the incident, however, hospital staff members informed them that he had to be sedated due to his agitated and violent state, thus rendering the interview “impossible,” according to the report.

Davis’ arrest report states he was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after being released from the hospital.

According to investigators, Davis and the victim have been in a relationship for eight years and have two children together.

Jail records show he is facing one count each of attempted murder, attempted armed robbery with a deadly weapon and battery.

As of Tuesday, Davis was being held without bond at TGK. Police did not disclose in the report why Davis was allegedly demanding $3,000 from the victim.
